Three New Ones

Three illustrations that will appear in a to-be-announced publication (not long from now, really). I'll add further details when the time arrives. Unrelated item: I deleted 250+ old posts, and their related images, this morning. Some of 'em dating back as far as 2005. Let's call it a determined case of closet-cleaning, and removal of a lot of substandard work that I'd rather not share with the art-appreciating public. Stuff from the last couple years remains.

Richard III

Just a quick pencil sketch of the last Plantagenet king, inspired by this week's news. Maybe I'll add ink and color to this later on.

Not a drawing, rather, a label to glue inside all those books in my towering "to read" pile. At least the ones I want to hang on to.

George Formby

The first in a series of portraits of 20th Century British Music-Hall Comedians & Ukelele Players. I don't like to ink directly on top of graphite sketches (the paper can't sustain all that erasing), but my blueline tracing was losing a lot of the nuance and verging on caricature. And Formby was a pretty unique-looking fellow in his own right, no exaggeration required.

A little spot illustration of Steve Diggle, done for kicks (and because I like him).
