Drawing of the Sleepers / Toiling Midgets front person that I did a couple years ago and colored...today! Always save your old black & white scans, kids. Not entirely convinced that it works, but whatever.

Phantom Surfer(s)
I saw the Phantom Surfers last night. They were very good, though I didn't stick around to hear the Gamera theme.

Monday Morning Portrait Time
The latest! Colored in GIMP, and while I do advocate it as an easy alternative to PhotoShop, I'm noticing the colors are slightly off when posting images and viewing them on other devices. Too yellow. I'm not sure where the problem lies, but will investigate.

Portrait du Jour
I drew a cartoon portrait of someone I know, and don't really want to show it to him. Not that it's unflattering, I just can't predict the reaction. So here it is, until he catches wind of it.

David Xavier Harrigan
A quick portrait of the late performer/artist David Xavier Harrigan, better known to music fans as Tomata du Plenty (of Los Angeles' synthesizer quartet, the Screamers). Ironically, people are probably more familiar with Gary Panter's 1977 portrait of Tomata than they are with his music.

Heino
Black and white version, first. Though this is basically already his skin and hair color. Edit: color version added. On the positive side, I was able to accomplish this without the use of any Adobe products (take that!); on the negative, I had to do the colors on top of a low-resolution original which led to some unpleasantness.

Richard III
Just a quick pencil sketch of the last Plantagenet king, inspired by this week's news. Maybe I'll add ink and color to this later on.
Update: Revised and revamped version added below.

George Formby
The first in a series of portraits of 20th Century British Music-Hall Comedians & Ukelele Players. I don't like to ink directly on top of graphite sketches (the paper can't sustain all that erasing), but my blueline tracing was losing a lot of the nuance and verging on caricature. And Formby was a pretty unique-looking fellow in his own right, no exaggeration required.

Another Ancient Punker
This is another quick doodle, done on the last day of 2007, and colored this morning (how's that for recycling?). I was probably looking at photo reference for this, but can't recall clearly. I do remember being pretty eager to ring in a new year.

F. Schneider
A quick drawing of Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk renown...I'll color and repost at some point, probably!
And, I did exactly that.
